How can I edit free html or css templates so i can customise them for my site? I have a new community website at http:www.blackcountrygob.com. The website portal was built by someone I am no longer in contact with and I would like to add new areas to the site and also to improve things but I simply have no clue what I'm doing. If you take a look at the site you will see various links to other areas. The jukebox for example is a plain page with the music player embedded in but it looks plain and boring as does the games section. I would like to use free templates as a base for these sections but just do not know how to use them can anyone offer any help. It's a free to join, non profit group with a decent aim but needs assistance to get it lkooking good. I have very limited knowldge and use frontpage so any help would be appreciated. I want to launch a website and I downloaded a bunch of free templates, I don't know how to preview/edit the templates though...just a bunch of php files, index.html and main.php's. I just downloaded a free website template. Now, how do I add it to Frontpage so I can begin to create a site? I've never used Frontpage 2002 and can learn by doing. I also have another HTML editor (if that is what they're called) called Nvu. Regardless, I've never used either of them :-( How can I put the template I just downloaded into Frontpage 2002 so I can easily edit pages? I also need to know how I can use the same template to create additional pages. How do I get the advertisement off of my website? I'm using Sitesled for my website and an advertisement from adbrite keeps showing up and Sitesled says that they don't place ads on their users sites and I didn't put it there either. I did use a free HTML template from 2createawebsite, so I'm assuming it's from that. However, I have very limited knowledge in HTML and I can't figure out where the code is for the advertisement! WEBSITE DESIGN: I want to make my own website so I downloaded a free website template? but the website template only has the index.html (I think this is the homepage) 1. What is a website and a webpage? Is there a difference between the two? 2. How do I make the same template for my other pages (i.e. about us, contact, products etc.) but with a little difference from the index.html like for example there are photos in the index.html but for the other pages I want no photos or the photos are placed in a different area of the page?? Website designing? 1. How do I RE-CREATE the same webpage inorder to make a website with multiple webpages? which program is best to use if you have minimal html designing know-how 2. How come some FREE website templates are difficult to customize once you download it, and it is also difficult to recreate or copy the same webpage. How do I use a "website template"? I found a lot of interesting website templates on the internet. Some for free, some for a fee. My question is: when I order/download 1 of these templates, what is then the next step? Eg. I downloaded some free trail templates, and what I received are zip files with html/jpg files, and I have no idea how to get these templates running/how to try them... Website creation... been out of the loop and need some guidance? I need to create a simple website of approximately 8 pages depth. In the olden days I would have created a frames start page so that only the content of the page changed and the navigation menu, logo, notifications stayed the same. I dont want to create a template of how the site generically looks and use this to construct the other pages as, even though I will use stylesheets for fonts, each amendment would have to be done on all pages creating a total administrative nightmare! I'm just not up on the current creation methods but know frames are not the way to go, flash is too complicated for the requirement, free website templates may go some way to the actual look of the site but seem to use seperate html pages, oh and for the record I am not proficient in XML or ASP. FYI - Am using DreamWeaver 2004.

Marrying web templates with pre-designed web-builders? I needed a website with literally 4-5 pages so signed up with Microsoft Office Live Small Business as they would give a free website and domain name but the problem is that I don't like the themes that come with the build-package (Basically I want my background to be pure black and sexy - like a night club - and the programme isn't letting me). I've found website templates that look more like what i want so I'm wondering is it possible to transpose the template onto my Microsoft package? Possibly HTML? I want to know how to split a very long html page into a number of small pages autmatically? - Very urgent? Hi, I have a collection of data which has been permitted to use in my own website. It has been given to me as a html page with single a table having 1500 rows. The page takes a long time to load in the browser and even if I open it in excel, it takes a really long time for every single change I make. Now, I want to split this one file into several html files so that each page may have a table which has just 20 rows from the long table in the actual file. I can then link to all these pages in every page using numbers. I am new to website designing and I just use ready made templates and free javascript codes to design my site. Is there any easy way to do what I want to do. This is very urgent and I am waiting for a best answer.

html codes help: how do i make all website content to be centered on the page? i'm making this page for a friend, i added a free template layout and it works well, but the whole content just sits to the left, and does not widen when you adjust the width of your browser.... which is actually fine because i understand that if i want the frames to widen with the browser it takes more work.... BUT i would like the content to stay centered, just like this yahoo answers pages, where the frames do not adjust to the browser width, they just stay centered. is that hard, and how do i do that, what are the exact codes? thanks

I have a website template i downloaded and would like to use. I downloaded it from freewebtemplates.com? Here is some more info: I went to the website and downloaded the template. In my documents there are files for it with the following types: file folder which is just images, PNG image which is the whole template, shockwave flash which i can't open, html document with index as the file name when i click on this a webpage of my template pops up on ie. and then database file with a file name of "thumbs", and I can't open that either. Which file do i need to use? Are there any free programs (even with a link back) , where i can use this template and customize the text on the tabs and add links, etc.? If not, are there any programs i can use to upload my template to it, then edit, that are inexpensive and one time fee? I already have hosting, and every program seems only allow me to use their hosting if i use their design program? Someone, please help... Free websites? I have always ued Geocities because I liked the easy drag and drop deal that the pagebuilder allowed. I can't figure out how to use sites like Angelfire. When I've tried in the past I get as far as loading content but without a template to view as I go like goecities "pagebuilder" allowed, I am lost. I have know idea how to get the content I upload on a site like Angelfire and many similar free webhosts even on the page. I usually just copied and pasted html into geocities pages when I needed it. Now Geocities shuts the page down and makes it unavailable for an hour everytime more then five or six people visit. Sucks! So does anyone know of a free website I can use that is similar to Geocities in it's drag and drop pagebuilder utility, free, and won't shut down every hour? I seen the comments about 4.2 MB data tranfer per hour. I'm not hurting when I upload though. I am hurting with the traffic. I have downscaled photo's and used even Swishmax to put some photo's on because it makes them smaller sometimes doing it with a flash base instead of a .jpeg. ???

Ok,well my youth group leader chose tripod.com to host her new website.I think its a great way to reach young teens,however the website is well its pretty low tech and will probably get just laughs from kids who are used to websites like MySpace.I have found a free template I want to use(I know how to do it)its just is there anyway you can clear a TriPod site and completely enter your own CSS style sheet,but still make it easy for a non-html inclined person to update easily?If so please explain in detail :D.Thanks
HoW to create User Authentication and Management (login script)? this is what i want to do: i have a website and i need to make it so that visitors can create accounts. I need to be able to manage these accounts (for example they will complete a deal and i have to be able to update their profile when its verified). Ive looked around and everybody tells me that i will need a database. Im guessing this has something to do with MySQL and PHP scripts. Do i need MySQL and PHP or can i jsut use PHP. And how are the free scripts out there? I wouldnt have time to read through everything because i have to read through dreamweaver tutorials and photoshop tutorials. Need advice for designing a simple website cheap? I posted this in Internet, but I think it would be more appropriate here? I don't need a lot of features in my website--just something fairly simple, but I do want it to look nice. I was looking at some template sites. Are there any that people recommend? Also, are the free template sites trustworthy? I'm a little wary of downloading a virus. Although I don't need something complicated, it will eventually have many pages. I'd like to be able to have "permanent sidebars." So that I can change a link on one page and it clones it for all pages. However, I don't want frames. I have Namo WebEditor, which I don't really like, though I haven't used it that much. I don't really have much money. Does anyone have any suggestions for an HTML program? Where is the best place to build a website? I had my own website on yahoo here www.geocities.com/darkdragonofwind But somehow my password, zip code and birth date have been changed. I know because Yahoo told me so when I called them. Anyway, I have to make another website. I know HTML and CSS and I prefer to write out my own code instead of using templates. I don't like advertisements that are at the top of your page and you can't click them away. I also hate advertisements that take up your whole page. Yahoo's advertisement was okay, I was able to get rid of it. So if you know a free place that will host my site for free without making my site all about their advertisement, please let me know. Website Help? Hi, I been making websites for awhile now. I just started using html editors now insted of Online Website Builders! But as you can see here http://slayerskins.tk , they look abit...well I don't know how to explain, has anyone got any Tips? At the moment i'm using MS Publisher Is there any other better programs or Free (I don't have front page!) also if they came with some nice templates it would be good! oh and: When i make a webiste in Publisher and put an image in! Starting a website? i need to build a website for my small business. I was on Microsoft Office Live but I can't seem to do the page in HTML. I mean the whole page in html. I'm currently using the starting one that is free. Do they allow they allow the whole page to be done in HTML and I'm jsut not finding it or do I have to use their templates? If they don't allow html does anyone know a where I can get a domain name as in www.(name I want).(com, net, us, etc) and is ad free that is under $43 a year? The cheapest one I've found is Godaddy.com at that price.

I got an acct w/ Dreamhost Ive never done this before I want to know my BEST options are for development ? I know they have a "getting started" page but it sucks and all i get are more questions from it. I have Ubuntu and Firefox. so far ive installed "Bluefish" (html editor) FTP from firefox. I think this will work okay right ? maybe i could just use a website builder just to get the site up quickly. if i use templates would I have complete SEO control ? My only exp. is using a free website builder from brinkster and i need to figure the best possible way i can create a interactive site with a "Build your own" cowboy rhinestone shirts. so there would be a top a bottom, the "cut" which joins them and special extras like flashy embellishments, rhinestone designs etc..the person can choose from different fabrics and then see what it will look like all together. Would i be best to use flash for this ? where should i get something like that ? how advanced is it to do a site with this capability ? how should i do it ? Flash ? javascript ? web site help? i am trying to create a web site,i have no professional skills but i am trying to learn HTML, so far so good however i am kind of stuck at this point and require some help.3 things i need help with : (1) I would like to add alot of flash features to my site but i have no idea what to do or how to do this is there any specific program that i need to create flash vids/banners etc? How good is Joomla compared to using an "editor" (Bluefish?)for a Rookie Newbie ? I have used a WYSIWYG web builder with a free Brinkster acct(VERY AWESOME FREE HOST) but now i got a acct w/ Dreamhost and i want to put up a business selling Western wear and other Cowboy gear, Saddles, tack, art, etc.I have messed around on W3 schools website learning HTML for awhile now. I even downloaded a editor Bluefish that seems to be kind of nice. And i use firefox so i grabbed an ext. called ftp that i'm thinking will work perfect, if not please tell me so. Also I want to know how easy it will be to go back and little by little swap the Joomla template w/ my own pages as i learn more. But there is a high importance on getting the site up right away. So am i correct in thinking that perhaps it should help me in that area, OR NOT ? Will it be anything like using the web builder im already familiar with ? My problem has been SEO trouble because of lack of control but joomla isnt like that so i should be alright, but then whats the downside to it ? What about ads ?

Please Help, designing & creating my web site? I've been using free services and everything seemed so simple. I just purchased some domain names and now I want to pull my hair out. I used GoDaddy.com for my domain names with free hosting. I can't find where my DNS records are. To create a site it's making me use Website Tonight which only allows you to choose templates and this is not what I want at all. I know how to build a web site and would like to use my own script and html coding. I probably have more questions than anyone would care to help with but if there is someone with a little time and a lot of patience, I need help. Please. How hard is it to create an online shop? I've been selling things on eaby for quite some time and the fees are really cutting into my profits. I have quite a few returning customers so was thinking of creating a website they could go to instead to buy my items. I haven't a clue where to start though. I have another website I'm working on but it doesn't sell anything. It cost me £150 and gave templates and advice so I wouldn't have to use html. I'd like to go for something cheaper (preferably free!) with my new site though. Does anyone know any good services which don't require html knowledge?
