Easy way to operate a money making, ebay online auction or store?

My friend helped me get my car repaired and I want to pay them back. So I thought ebay. Only I do not have a clue on how to set up or run, a ebay online auction. Like how do I get the photos of items on the site? How does paypal work? What good advice can you offer to have a successful store? Is it hard to set up the store? Who is better Amazon, Ubid, or Ebay? I am looking for a simple, easy to follow help, please.
