Please HELP! How to put information on the internet? What do I need?

I'm really struggling... This problem needs sorting: One 20 MG file. NEED: Unlimited number of people to access it. I have a free service = I can send a download link to 100 people via their email address = lots of hard work. I don't have a website. Tried many times. I fail to overcome: 1). Can't find a free / low-cost host, with cool templates 2). I don't understand how to add buttons that work 3). I need to have a button for: Donations Accepted, OR charge a small fee (via Paypal - I have an account). How to effect that? 4). I don't understand HTML 5). I need simple way to list with search engines 6). I have a registered Domain name with Microsoft Office (don't like as a host) (don't know how to transfer name) (don't mind if I have to get a new name). I have free web storage & a URL (but I don't understand the most effective way to put that to use to achieve aim). i.e. I have pieces but don't know how to put them together... Thanks for the info. I've tried... getting there... slowly! I'm creating the website... only got to figure out the details with the buttons now... ARGH!

  2. Cripes- i think you need to ask people you know who may be able to help you. You sound like you might need a web server, you have the Domain set up which is a step in the right direction but most of what you are asking will need someone there with you to understand what you want and help on how to do it. Can't find a free / low-cost host, with cool templates * Free and low cost don't come with cool templates, free and low cost come with very small amounts of space and no bells and whistles. 2) I don't understand how to add buttons that work * This is complicated, you are trivialising a pretty complicated thing. Get someone who does. www.htmlgoodies.com is a great tutorial site but learning HTML can be like learning another language, and if you try to find a way around it your site will look like amateurish garbage. 5) I need a simple way to list with search engines Each engine has it's own way of listing, you just drop your website address in. www.google.com/adurl and http://submit.search.yahoo.com/ are a good starting point. 6) I have a registered Domain name with Microsoft Office (don't like as a host) (don't know how to transfer name) (don't mind if I have to get a new name). * No you don't. Microsoft Office is a word processing and business aplications suite. Not a web host. You may get some nominal web space through something I haven't seen before but it's unsuitable for what you are doing.

There is available books on the subject do not take offense here,even I sometimes struggle with the Gobbledegook that`s why they have books called "For Dummies" the last one I got was for the computor,before that Mobiles,not being a whizz at these things I found these books helped a great deal.
