  1. i recomend you get the trial version of dremwever and then you will learn stuff as you try to upload and see the changes you have to make as you go. thats what i did.
  2. Start learning photoshop and dreamweaver. These are 2 key programs that are usually associated with webdesign. You will have to learn how to design, slice you template, import it into dreamweaver and then code it correctly with either iframes or tables.
  3. If you're in real need of a website, a content management system ( like those offered by http://www.slinkdesigns.com ) would be great for you. It requires no knowledge of web programming and packs almost every feature you can think of into it. If you really want to learn, try the w3schools website and pick the tutorials on the left: http://www.w3schools.com/
  4. download the free trial of dreamweaver here is the link http://www.download.com/3000-2048-10013427.html hope this helps
  5. building a website is very simple if u have Microsoft Frontpage. although u can create your website from the numerous templates available on the internet, it's nothing as compared to building it from the scratch. Look for some source of inspiration for the site's main design. having a basic knowledge of HTML is good enough to work on MS Frontpage. You can use it just like u use MS Word. 6. If you already have a basic knowledge of html, then you're ahead of most people. First, find yourself a free template (I reccomend oswd.org--open source webdesign). Afterwards, try getting a guide on HTML for the trickier bits (try the neopets guide--it's kind of beginner-ish but it's useful or lissaexplains.com--which has css in addition to HTML). Then, use something like FrontPage or DreamWeaver to add content (here, a HEXadecimal colour chart would be useful--http://www.liu.edu/cwis/cwp/library/colors.htm), because these programs allow both Design view (What You See Is What You Get) and coded HTML view (to clean up your coding and to fix some bugs and such). Finally, find a good free host that offer sufficient bandwith and (this is in my opinion), perferrably no ads (banners are the worst, considering most have pop-up blockers). That should be the bare necessities. Email me if you want more help. Have fun!! ~~tigercat
  7. Well... If are really serious in learning web-designing, I'd recommend you to do the following: 1) First learn HTML and CSS from htmldog.com or w3schools.com Don't use dreamweaver in the beginning as it will hamper your learning ability. Instead start with notepad or any other simple text editor. 2) Now start learning photoshop as you'd need to create lots of graphics e.t.c. 3) Now go for Dreamweaver or HTMLkit, as they reduce your work while writing the code. 4) Go through the articles at alistapart.com 5) Now time for the links htmldog.com alistapart.com cssmania.com csszengarden.com (to get inspiration) digital-web.com NOTE: You may also check out some really useful CMSes like jhoomla to make your life simpler while managing your websites.
  8. The quickest, cheapest, easiest way to start a website is using geocities which is available on the Yahoo! menu. It has both blank pages and templates that you play with while you decide what you like and/or dislike. Yahoo! can help you get a domain name and anything else you decide you might need.
  9. i agree with apnerve and you can also go htmlgoodies.com that is the best so far
