How do I use a "website template"?

I found a lot of interesting website templates on the internet. Some for free, some for a fee. My question is: when I order/download 1 of these templates, what is then the next step? Eg. I downloaded some free trail templates, and what I received are zip files with html/jpg files, and I have no idea how to get these templates running/how to try them... Do I need to instal dreamweaver first, and open the files with dreamweaver? Thank you so much!!!

  1. Any HTML Editor will do the job open the index.htm or default.htm file after unzipping the downloaded file edit the file as per yr requirement also u may need to edit image files after all editing , upload the files to yr website (FTP)
  2. After unzipping the downloaded zip files, you can replace the text with your own. This has to be done on the html files. You can edit (or what is called customizing the template) the text in any text editor like notepad. The jpg files are images. You can use these images or you can replace them with your own images. You will need a software like photoshop to edit jpg files.
