  1. Stay away from Frontpage. It adds a lot of unnecessary tags to your code. Dreamweaver is much cleaner. Not sure about Coffe Cup.
  2. I'll suggest NVU since its free, but I cant assure you of the quality of HTML it will generate. It will however generate MUCH MUCH better HTML than Frontpage!
  3. I highly recommend Dreamweaver for starting out. It offers WYSIWYG editing. It also offers the advantage of clean output as far as HTML and other languages go. This will keep your HTML clean and also offer you the advantage of a greater learning curve. You can read more about Dreamweaver at: http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/ Microsoft Frontpage, as a product, is notorious for producing bad code that does not work well in many browsers or platforms. I would stay away from it. If cost is a favorite and Adobe Dreamweaver is on the expensive side, look into some free things. I highly recommend Nvu. It is a fully featured editor. Actually, many people compare it to Dreamweaver in its scale and abilities. I It is catching up fast. Since it's free, you might as well download it and give it a try in the mean time anyways. It's fully featured and robust and many people use it as their only web design and development engine anyway. It is fully W3C standard (unlike Microsoft Frontpage, again). You can read more about it at: http://nvudev.com/index.php Screenshots and features are at: http://nvudev.com/features.php I hope this helps. Coffeecup has been around a heck of a long time...I haven't heard of it in years. I really think it has lost a lot of ground to a lot of other products that are new and great. I really don't know much about it so I don't want to "judge it" based on my knowledge. We can see if anyone else replies with specific knowledge concerning it. This is just my honest opinion. Give Nvu a try. It's free, so it can't hurt. :-) Sincerely, Craig
  4. I really don't like FrontPage, the code is pretty messy and there's unneeded tags. Personally, I use gedit :).
  5. Coffeecup offers great programs for a very reasonable price. All of their products come with a trial which allows you to see if you like them. They have positioned themselves to attract a market of people that aren't interested in spending a boatload of time and money just to get a website up. Frontpage is also a nice product. It is a little more complicated to use for the average person. It does certainly offer more whistles and bells but HTML is HTML and you can write it in a text editor if you know what you are doing. Frontpage is going to offer you more advanced programming features than Coffeecup but at a steeper learning curve. So in conclusion: Frontpage=expensive, more features, higher learning curve Coffeecup=cheap, enough feature to create a nice website, WYSIWYG
