Visual Basic vs. HTML?

Are there similarities between these two (are they languages)?

Public Comments

  1. Visual Basic is a compiled language while HTML is an interpreted language.
  2. No. Visual Basic is a programming language. HTML is not. HTML is very easy. Visual Basic is not. HTML is free and can be written using Notepad. Visual Basic is expensive and uses special software. There isn't any close comparison to these what so ever. It's like saying a paperclip is similiar to a waffle.
  3. About the only similarity I can think of is that they both allow you to present information to the user visually. HTML is not a programming language and can't contain any logic or dynamic content. It only displays in web browsers and is not compiled. Visual Basic is a programming lanague and is compiled as an executable (usually) and can only be run directly on the users machine while HTML is sent to the user from a web server.
  4. HTML is not so much a programming language. It is more a way of structuring a document.
